IEEE BCIT Welcomes You

Hello BCIT Students!

We at IEEE BCIT welcome you all to the 2021/2022 year. We have many activities and services planned as well as several volunteering opportunities for students. Our goal is to help you get the most out of your school year in the ECET program and beyond. We will often have somebody in the McNaughton Centre, our base of operations, located in SW1-3047. If the door is closed, try knocking. If somebody is inside, we will try our best to accommodate you. Don’t Just Hope For Change. Engineer It!

Parts Store

During class there may be situations where you have either broken a part, need extras, or are working on a project which requires a part you do not have. That is where our parts store comes in! Once open you can stop by our room anytime to buy the parts you need. All payment methods are accepted. If we don’t have a part and you believe that there is a demand, we can also bulk order new parts and pass some of the savings on to you.

Note: We are currently in the process of setting up our parts store for all students, and will post more information here once we are open.

RC Classic Competition

After the winter break, we will be hosting our annual “RC Classic” event. In this event teams from schools across Metro Vancouver compete in creating an RC car which can make it through our obstacle course, but that is not the only challenge. Your car must also be favoured by the judges in order to win. Even if you aren’t participating in the competition, it is still good fun to attend and cheer on your favourite team. There will be free food.

We will continue to post updates here regarding categories, prizes, volunteer opportunities, and car-building workshops in the coming months. Stay tuned!

If you want to learn more, or see photos from past events, take a look at our RC classic webpage: https://www.ieeebcit.org/rc-classic/
